Aachen Launches Solar Offensive to Boost PV Use in Multi-Family Homes and SMEs

Aachen has revamped its solar support program, aiming to boost the use of photovoltaics (PV) in multi-family homes and commercial properties of small and medium-sized enterprises. The city, in collaboration with Braunschweig Zukunft GmbH and NBank, offers a flat-rate subsidy of 50 euros for solar neighborhood festivals. The program's processing has been digitized to speed up waiting times.

The city's goal is to achieve climate neutrality by 2030, with the expansion and support of PV use being a key part of this plan. The program supports PV systems and storage batteries for communal or tenant electricity projects in multi-family homes, with a maximum of 10,000 euros and 5,000 euros respectively. For commercial properties, it supports roof assessments with up to 90% (maximum 4,000 euros) and PV systems with 100 euros per kilowatt-peak (maximum 10,000 euros).

The relaunched program, 'Aachen Solar Offensive', begins its second round. To educate and motivate housing communities and entrepreneurs, the city, along with the German Solar Energy Support Association, will launch the lecture series 'Photovoltaics Explained' on November 3.

Aachen's solar support program offers substantial funding for PV systems and related services in multi-family homes and commercial properties. The digitized processing aims to reduce waiting times. With the 'Aachen Solar Offensive' campaign and the upcoming lecture series, the city encourages local communities and businesses to contribute to its climate neutrality goal by 2030.
