Additional transport options to Aglona available this week
In anticipation of the upcoming festivities in Aglona, the Directorate of Public Transport has announced some changes to regional bus and train services.
For those travelling from Riga, take note that the bus service No 5714 will depart from the city at 10.25 on August 13, arriving in Aglona at 14.35. On August 14 and 15, the bus will also make stops at Aglona station on its way to Preili, with departures scheduled at 17.15 and 20.00 on August 14.
On August 15, after the festivities, the bus service No 5714 will leave Aglona at 01.00, 01.05, and 16.00. It's important to note that these departures are not part of the usual service and are specifically arranged for the festivities.
The bus will depart Aglona at 16.30 on both August 14 and 15, following the usual route back to Riga, arriving at 20.40. On August 14, the bus service No 5714 will stop at Aglona station on its way to the festival site at 17.55 and 20.40. On August 15, the bus service No 5714 will also stop at Aglona station on its way to Preili.
The Directorate encourages passengers to plan their journeys and check the timetables of regional buses and trains on their website under "Timetables" or the portal 1188.lv/satiksme.
It's worth mentioning that the new train services are not part of the bus service No 5714's departures from Aglona on August 14 or August 15 at 01.00, 01.05, and 16.00. Additionally, the new train services are not part of the bus service No 5714's stops at Aglona station on its way to the festival site or on its way to Preili.
The train service on the line Riga-Daugavpils has been temporarily supplemented, but these new train services are not part of the bus service No 5714 or the regional public transport services on the routes Rīga-Preiļi and Preiļi-Aglona-Grāveri, which are provided by SIA "Tukuma auto". The company operating regional bus connections on these routes is called "Latgales reģionālais autobusu parks."
On August 14, train number 726 departs from Riga Central Station at 14.01 and arrives in Aglona at 17.40. On August 15, train 725 departs Aglona at 16.40 and arrives at Riga Central Station at 20.34.
Lastly, it's important to note that the regional bus route No 7981 Riga-Preilu will have an extended service to Aglona on August 13, 14, and 15. Passengers are advised to check the timetables for more details.
