Affordable electric Citroën e-C3 faces competition from rival vehicles in the market

The French automaker Citroën has recently introduced its all-electric version of the popular e-C3 model, now available in Ireland. Let's take a closer look at the key features and specifications of this new electric vehicle (EV).

Performance and Charging

The e-C3 boasts a power output of 83kW, which translates to 113 horsepower and 124 Newton-metres of torque. It can charge from a fast DC charging point at an impressive rate of up to 100kW, enabling a 20-80% charge in just 26 minutes. The e-C3 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 10.4 seconds, providing a responsive driving experience.

Range and Economy

Equipped with a 44kWh battery and a claimed range of 320km (WLTP), the e-C3 offers a practical driving range for daily commuting and weekend trips. The electric consumption is rated at 17.6 kWh/100km (WLTP), ensuring efficient use of energy.

Pricing and Equipment

The electric Max model of the e-C3 is priced at €25,650, while the hybrid version retails for €29,000. The basic Plus model, which comes with standard equipment such as 17-inch alloys, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, cruise control, air conditioning, parking sensors, and safety features, starts from €23,400, regardless of whether it's petrol or electric.

The top-spec Max version includes additional features such as heated seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, automatic aircon, and a heated windscreen.

Charging Costs and Infrastructure

The cost to install an electric vehicle charging station in Ireland typically ranges from €1,200 to €2,500, depending on the type of charger and installation requirements. The cost of charging the e-C3 at home on a night rate of 15c per kWh is €6.60 for a full battery.

Space and Comfort

The e-C3 provides adequate space for a car of its size, but legroom in the back may be tight for tall passengers if the front seats are adjusted for comfort. The e-C3's 312-litre boot offers ample storage space, although there is no "frunk" storage area in the nose, so charging cables will need to be stored elsewhere.

Interior and Design

The interior of the e-C3 features a good fit and finish, with a more upmarket-looking fabric on the dash's center section. The 10.25-inch touchscreen is user-friendly, featuring physical buttons for the air conditioning.

In conclusion, the all-electric Citroën e-C3 offers a practical and efficient driving experience, with a competitive price range and a user-friendly design. Whether you're looking for a daily commuter or a weekend runabout, the e-C3 could be the perfect choice for your electric vehicle needs.
