Almaty's BRT Line Delayed Due to Road Material Change
The BRT line project on Rayymbek Avenue in Almaty has faced a delay due to changes in the road surface material. The city's urban mobility department has announced that the project will not be completed on time, with the handover now scheduled for the end of November 2026.
The project, which is 17 km long and divided into two sections, initially planned to use a single-layer asphalt concrete 5 cm thick. However, laboratory tests conducted jointly with KazdorNII revealed the need for a two-layer polymer asphalt concrete. This change has led to adjustments in the project, causing the delay.
Two contractors, Saryarka AvtoProm and Kaspi Engineering, are working on the construction. The project requires the purchase of 451 land plots, with 152 already acquired. The completion of the project depends on the full acquisition of these plots.
The BRT line on Rayymbek Avenue in Almaty will now be completed by the end of November 2026, following the necessary adjustments to the road surface material. The city's urban mobility department continues to work towards the full implementation of the project, with 152 out of 451 required land plots already purchased.
