Alstom Expands Iraq's Power Grid with Al Mansuriya Plant
Alstom, a global leader in power generation, is expanding Iraq's electricity network with the construction of the Al Mansuriya power plant. The plant will significantly boost the country's generation capacity, providing enough electricity to power the entire Diyala Governorate and a substantial part of Baghdad.
The Al Mansuriya power plant will consist of four units, each equipped with Alstom's proven GT13E2 gas turbine. This turbine has accumulated over 10 million operating hours worldwide, showcasing exceptional operational performance. The first unit is scheduled to come online in early 2013.
The plant's equipment will be manufactured in Alstom's state-of-the-art factories in France, Switzerland, and Germany. This project is part of Alstom's ongoing commitment to supporting Iraq's energy infrastructure reconstruction, ensuring secure electricity supplies for the future. In December 2011, Alstom completed a 728 MW gas power plant in the Diyala Governorate, further testament to the company's dedication to Iraq's energy development.
Alstom's $400 million contract to build the 728 MW Al Mansuriya gas-fired power plant underscores the company's significant investment in Iraq's energy sector. With the plant's completion, Iraq will gain a substantial increase in electricity generation capacity, benefiting the Diyala Governorate and Baghdad residents.
