Alstom Wins €140M Deal to Supply 28 Eco-Friendly Trains to Deutsche Bahn
Alstom has won a €140 million contract to supply 28 regional trains to Deutsche Bahn Regio NRW GmbH. The trains, set to enter service in 2014, will run on the Rhine-Ruhr network in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Coradia Continental trains will be manufactured at Alstom's Salzgitter site in Germany. They can reach a top speed of 160 km/h and accommodate up to 170 seated passengers and 173 standing. The trains are eco-friendly, featuring regenerative brakes and compliance with the EN 15227 safety norm.
The contract will be booked in the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2012-13. The trains will serve on the S5 and S8 suburban tramlines from Dortmund to Mönchengladbach, catering to disabled passengers with accessible toilets and modifications for reduced mobility and visual impairments.
Alstom's 28 Coradia Continental trains, manufactured in Salzgitter, will enhance Deutsche Bahn's Rhine-Ruhr network. They will provide efficient, eco-friendly, and accessible transport for passengers, with a contract value of approximately €140 million.
