Altered bus schedules at public transit: changes take effect immediately for commuters
Munich, Germany - Starting December 15th, significant changes are set to take place in Munich's public transportation system, affecting all modes: buses, U-Bahn, trams, and regional trains.
The S-Bahn lines, which connect the city center to Munich Airport, will see some adjustments. The S7 line, which previously passed through the Stammstreckentunnel and ended at the Hauptbahnhof, no longer stops at Hackerbrücke and will no longer run from Wolfratshausen to Hauptbahnhof. On the other hand, the S5 line is making a comeback, connecting Kreuzstraße with Pasing and running further to Germering-Unterpfaffenhofen on weekdays.
The U-Bahn lines will also experience changes. U-Bahn lines U1, U4, and U6 run every 30 minutes, but offset by 15 minutes from the other lines. From January 3rd, trains will run continuously on weekends and holidays, including nights. Every 15 minutes, there will be a train in each direction for U-Bahn lines U2, U3, and U5, meeting at central transfer stations. The U3 line is reinforced between Olympiazentrum and Moosach, running every 5 minutes during peak hours.
Tram 16 is expected to return to its usual route once Tram 17 resumes service over the Ludwigsbrücke in spring 2025. From December 15th, Tram 12 runs every 10 minutes all day from Scheidplatz to Schwabing Nord via Parzivalstraße.
