Amazon Expands Autos Platform to Used and Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles
Amazon has broadened its automotive retail platform, Amazon Autos, to include used and certified pre-owned vehicles. This expansion, announced on August 4, 2025, builds upon the existing new vehicle sales offering launched in December 2024 and currently available in over 130 cities across the United States.
Fan Jin, the global leader of Amazon Autos, attributed this move to strong demand from dealer partners seeking broader online reach and customers craving a wider selection of high-quality vehicles. The expansion allows dealers to list their used vehicle inventory on Amazon, providing customers with more choices among popular cars and trucks at various price points.
The used vehicle market represents a natural progression for Amazon Autos, enabling faster dealer onboarding and inventory expansion compared to new vehicle sales. The platform maintains transparent pricing with no hidden fees and offers comprehensive vehicle information, including Vehicle History Reports for all listings. Several consumer protection features are also incorporated, such as a 3-day/300-mile return policy and a minimum 30-day/1,000-mile Limited Warranty.
The used and certified pre-owned vehicle program is initially available in Los Angeles, with plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months. The success of this expansion will depend on dealer adoption rates and customer acceptance of online used vehicle purchasing. Amazon's entry into the used automotive market signals a significant expansion of its e-commerce capabilities.
