Andreas Matthä Steps Down as CER President; Alan Beroud to Take Over in 2026
Andreas Matthä, who has been leading the Community of European Railways (CER) since 2020, will step down as president at the end of this year. His successor, Alan Beroud, CEO of the Polish PKP, is set to take over in 2026.
Matthä initially took the helm of CER on an interim basis before being elected president in 2020. During his tenure, he guided the rail industry through numerous challenges, including climate policy, the COVID-19 pandemic, war, and energy crisis. His leadership saw the industry play a crucial role in addressing these issues.
Come January 2026, Alan Beroud will assume the presidency of CER. Beroud, currently CEO of the Polish PKP, will succeed Matthä, whose term ends on December 31, 2025.
Andreas Matthä's presidency at CER comes to an end this year, marking the beginning of a new era for the organisation. Alan Beroud, with his extensive experience at PKP, is set to take the reins in 2026, promising a smooth transition and continued progress for the European rail industry.
