Anticipated Financial Surge in UK due to Oasis Reunion Concert: £1 Billion Expected Inflow
Reunion Tour of Iconic Band Oasis Promises Economic Boost
The much-anticipated Oasis reunion tour for 2025 is expected to deliver a tremendous financial impact on the economy, with analysts projecting a boost worth over £1.06 billion. The tour, titled Oasis Live '25, will feature performances by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher across the UK, Ireland, and North America.
Starting in Cardiff, the tour will also include dates at Wembley Stadium, which witnessed almost £1 billion in economic growth during Taylor Swift's Eras tour last year.
Britain's Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, may benefit from another summer of spending as she aims to stimulate economic growth in the country. According to Tom Corbett, managing director of sponsorships and media at Barclays, fans are eager to relive the golden era of Britpop by spending on new outfits, food, and merchandise for the event.
Gauged by Barclays' Wonderwallets research, fans are set to spend an average of £171.10 on tickets, with additional spending expected on accommodation, travel, clothing, merchandise, food, and drinks. The anticipated spending from fans amounts to around £1.06 billion collectively across the tour.
Each fan, on average, is expected to spend around £766.22 to witness the historic reunion. Fans also plan to spend an average of £108 on accommodation and £70.50 on travel. Additionally, they aim to shell out £73.70 on new outfits, £59.70 on official merchandise, and £75.20 on food and drinks.
Two-thirds of the fans plan to purchase accessories or outfits specifically for the event. The estimated total expenditure for the reunion tour is predicted to surpass the £997 million spent on Taylor Swift's UK legs in 2024.
Rich Robinson, head of hospitality and leisure at Barclays, explained that consumers prioritize experiences over material possessions and are willing to go to considerable lengths to create lasting memories associated with their cultural icons.
For those who missed out on tickets, there are still opportunities to capitalize on the hype around the Oasis reunion tour. Investors could potentially benefit from brands associated with the tour, such as streaming platforms, music publishers, record labels, and retailers selling music merchandise.
Alternatively, you can make money by re-selling unwanted Oasis items on platforms like eBay. In June 2023, a guitar display signed by Noel Gallagher was sold for £2,495 on eBay even before the tour was announced, while original Oasis t-shirts, hoodies, and CDs have been selling for around £500 on the website.
- The highly-anticipated Oasis reunion tour will not only feature performances in the realms of entertainment and music, but the financial impact is also expected to extend into the property market, as many fans intend to spend on accommodation during the tour.
- As the Oasis reunion tour promises a significant economic boost, it might lead to an increase in investment opportunities in the finance sector. This is because fans are expected to spend money on digital platforms like streaming services, music publishers, and record labels.
