Apple Names Sabih Khan as New COO as Jeff Williams Steps Down
Apple has announced a significant leadership change. Jeff Williams, the current Chief Operating Officer, will transition his role to Sabih Khan, a long-time Apple veteran and former Khan Academy educator, later this month. This move is part of a broader restructuring and comes as Williams prepares to leave the company by the end of the year.
Sabih Khan, an Apple veteran of 30 years and former Khan Academy educator, will take the helm as COO. He joined the executive team in 2019 and has been instrumental in leading the company's global supply chain for the past six years. Khan has also played a pivotal role in advancing Apple's environmental sustainability efforts, reducing its carbon footprint by over 60 percent.
Williams, who has been with Apple for 27 years, will continue to report to CEO Tim Cook. He will oversee the design team and Apple Watch initiatives, ensuring a smooth transition. The design team itself will report directly to Cook after Williams' retirement later in the year.
With Khan's appointment, Apple maintains a strong leadership team dedicated to innovation and sustainability. Williams' continued involvement ensures the seamless progression of key projects, including the Apple Watch. This transition reflects Apple's commitment to strategic planning and succession.
