Augsburg Customs Crack Down on Illegal Employment, Host Career Info Day
On July 19, 2025, the city of Augsburg will host a Career Information Day for those interested in the profession of customs officer. Meanwhile, the Main Customs Office Augsburg recently conducted inspections in over 75 hairdressing and cosmetology salons, nail studios, and barbershops, resulting in two administrative penalty proceedings for illegal employment of foreigners.
On April 8, over 60 customs officials inspected around 160 employees across various beauty and grooming establishments in the district. The inspections aimed to ensure compliance with social security obligations and the payment of the minimum wage. Two businesses were found to have illegally employed foreigners, leading to administrative penalty proceedings.
The inspections were part of regular focus inspections carried out by the Financial Control of Undeclared Work (FKS), a division of the usajobs administration. These inspections help maintain a high number of checks in certain sectors and reduce illegal work. Further investigation is required in over 25 cases, with 15 suspected of not paying the minimum wage.
The upcoming Career Information Day on July 19, 2025, in Augsburg offers an opportunity for those interested in the customs officer profession to learn more about the role. Meanwhile, the recent inspections highlight the usajobs administration's commitment to ensuring fair labor practices and combating illegal employment.
