Autohaus, the renowned campervan converter based in Somerset, has hit a roadblock, filing for administrators due to financial struggles in the current economic climate. This company was well-known for its sleek VW 'van conversions, including the newly revamped Spartan GT, which bagged the title of best small campervan at our esteemed awards in 2025.
Another model, the VW Crafter-based Camelot C600, also gained recognition, being highly commended in the "Best campervan for a family of 4" category. But alas, Acare Leisure, which operates under the name Autohaus, had to bring in the big guns - Leonard Curtis - as administrators earlier this month.
In a statement, the company expressed their efforts to continue operations but, unfortunately, found none successful. Leonard Curtis's Ellise Townsend has been appointed as the administrator. The administrators plan to reach out to all affected suppliers and customers shortly.
Autohaus's downfall comes after another van converter bit the dust. Scottish-based CamperVanCo, who also struggled in 2021, had to call in liquidators on Christmas Eve. The company had new, fully electric campervans, based on a Toyota Proace, with a starting price under £20,000 OTR. Interpath's James Dewar and Alistair McAlinden were appointed joint provisional liquidators, leading to the dismissal of all 27 employees.
