B 429 Remains Open for Trucks During Maintenance; Weight Restriction Lifted by Winter 2025/2026
The B 429 will remain open for truck traffic during structural maintenance, set to last until winter 2025/2026. The lifting of the 3.5-ton weight restriction is expected to ease heavy traffic in the region. The cycle and pedestrian path, closed since June, will reopen on 2 October.
The 'Eselsbrücke' bridge's strengthening work is proceeding smoothly. Once completed, the bridge caps will be demolished and rebuilt using lightweight concrete, a process expected to take around three months. The bridge work will continue until winter 2025/2026, following the completion of road resurfacing. Meanwhile, the construction site is set to move to its third phase on 2 October, with truck traffic allowed to continue using the B 429 during the single-lane work per direction.
The lifting of the weight restriction is anticipated to significantly improve the traffic situation for heavy vehicles in the region. The structural maintenance aims to achieve this by the end of the project.
