Belarus, Oman Boost Ties: Visa-Free Travel & $1.4B Pulp Mill
Belarus and Oman have bolstered their ties, inking a roadmap for bilateral cooperation and intergovernmental pacts. Notably, Belarusians can now savor visa-free travel to Oman for up to a month.
The two nations have also initiated a substantial joint venture: a sprawling pulp and paper mill. Oman is pouring around $1.4 billion into the construction of the plant, which is slated to churn out approximately 800,000 tons of product annually. The facility will be situated in Belarus, aiming to tap into the country's natural resources more effectively in the wood processing sector.
The memorandum of cooperation, signed by the leaders of both countries, is poised to beef up economic ties. Oman's investment in Belarus' wood processing sector is a testament to this. Moreover, the visa abolition accord will facilitate people-to-people contact, with Belarusians now able to explore Oman's breathtaking beaches, akin to those in the Seychelles and the Maldives, without a visa for up to a month.
The signing of these agreements and the launch of the joint venture herald a new era in Belarus-Oman relations. The pulp and paper mill project, with its hefty investment and expected capacity, is set to bring substantial economic gains to both countries. Meanwhile, the visa-free travel will foster cultural exchange and tourism.
