The Madhya Pradesh government has announced that beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana will now receive additional benefits of pension and insurance cover under three central government schemes: the Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojana.

These central government schemes offer enhanced financial security to the women beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana.

  • Atal Pension Yojana (APY) guarantees a minimum pension after retirement, ensuring long-term old-age financial security for the women beneficiaries. The pension ranges from Rs 1,000- Rs 5,000 per month.
  • Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) offers life insurance coverage in case of death, providing financial support to the beneficiary's family. In case of a normal death, the family receives an insurance cover of Rs one lakh, while in case of accidental death, the cover increases to Rs two lakh.
  • Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojana (PMJSY) is an accident insurance scheme that offers financial compensation in the event of accidental death or disability.

These benefits supplement the existing monthly financial assistance provided by the Ladli Behna Yojana. As of August 2025, the monthly assistance is Rs 1,500 per month (including a Rakhi bonus), and it is planned to increase to Rs 3,000 by 2028.

The inclusion in these central government schemes means that beneficiaries receive not only direct financial aid but also secure social protection through pension and insurance, thereby enhancing their overall economic empowerment and risk coverage.

The Madhya Pradesh government has allocated a significant budget for the welfare of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. An outlay of Rs 32,633 crore has been made for the welfare of the scheduled castes, and Rs 47,296 crore has been earmarked for the development of scheduled tribes.

The annual budget for 2025-26 has proposed no new taxes. The budget, presented by the deputy chief minister Jagdish Devda, who holds the finance portfolio, amounts to Rs 4,21,032 crore.

The 'Ladli Behna Yojana' was a significant factor in the BJP retaining power in Madhya Pradesh, securing 163 seats in the 230-member Assembly in the last polls. The scheme, introduced by the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan government just four months before the November 2023 Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, has been instrumental in improving the economic status of women in the state.

The budget for the implementation of the 'Ladli Behna Yojana' is Rs 18,669 crore. The integration of the Ladli Behna Yojana with these central government schemes aligns with the Madhya Pradesh government’s objective to uplift women’s economic status, combining direct cash support with social security benefits.

  1. The additional benefits offered through the Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Suraksha Yojana will help enhance the financial security of the beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna Yojana, making their business ventures more secure.
  2. With the integration of the Ladli Behna Yojana with these central government schemes, the beneficiaries will not only receive direct financial aid but also gain social protection through pension and insurance, thereby boosting their overall capability to engage in and sustain businesses.
