BERGER Bau SE Honored for 120-Year Commitment to Environmental Protection
BERGER Bau SE, a family-owned business with a 120-year history, has demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental protection. Based in Passau, the company employs around 3,000 people across 100 locations in Europe, generating an annual turnover of 700 million euros. It has been a participant in the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact for many years, with its latest recognition being the receipt of a participation certificate in 2025.
BERGER Bau SE's dedication to operational environmental protection is evident in its voluntary measures, including certification according to the ISO 14001 standard since 1998. The company focuses on renewable energy projects at its large sites, such as combined heat and power plants, photovoltaic systems, and district heating. Currently, it is converting its operating site in Vilshofen from gas to heat as the primary energy carrier.
The company's commitment to sustainability has been acknowledged by the Bavarian State Government. In 2025, it was awarded the participation certificate of the Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact. The certificate was officially presented by the Bavarian State Minister for Environment and Consumer Protection, Thorsten Glauber, and the Mayor of Passau, Andreas Rother.
