Berlin's Sewer Renovation: Slip-Lining Method Minimizes Traffic Disruption
Berlin is currently renovating its sewer network in several streets, including Ardeystraße, Märkische Straße, and Fritz-Reuter-Straße. The city is employing the slip-lining method, which causes minimal traffic disruption.
The slip-lining process involves inserting a glass-fiber-reinforced plastic hose into the existing pipes. In Ardeystraße, a 450-meter hose with a diameter of 250-300 millimeters is being inserted. Meanwhile, in Märkische Straße, an 80-meter hose with a diameter of 300 millimeters is being used. Fritz-Reuter-Straße will receive a 40-meter piece with a diameter of 250 millimeters.
Residents are advised to refrain from parking near marked manhole covers during working hours. The process may cause a slight odor, and residents will be informed before the work begins. Only a few vehicles will be affected, and hoses will lie out temporarily.
The city's Drainage department is responsible for maintaining and modernizing the Witten sewer network. The slip-lining method allows for efficient renovation with minimal disruption to residents and traffic.
