In a visit to the district office on July 25, 2025, Dr. Reinhard Saller, the current CEO of the Lower Bavaria Forum e. V., expressed his vision to set more impulses towards competitiveness and economic location for the Landshut region.

The Landshut region, located within Lower Bavaria, faces competition with other regions and districts within the region. However, Lower Bavaria is being positioned as a "maker region" by Dr. Saller, thanks to its renowned maker mentality demonstrated in universities, crafts, and industry.

Landrat Peter Dreier, the region's leader, agrees with Dr. Saller's idea and approach. He emphasized the need for cooperation and unity in the Lower Bavaria region, a sentiment echoed by the Landshut region's practice of cooperation and unity, as exemplified by the upcoming hospital merger, the establishment of a joint transport association, joining the MVV, and a joint regional management.

One of the key projects Dr. Saller mentioned is the Hydrogen Transfer and Application Center (WTAZ), which is being set up in the Landshut region. The project, led by Prof. Dr. Michael Sterner, aims to integrate hydrogen technology into everyday life in the region. The WTAZ is intended to be located in close proximity to the electrolyzer in the Landshut region, which has been settled in Pfeffenhausen and generates green hydrogen.

Economic Referent Ludwig Goetz provided an overview of the current status of the WTAZ settlement during Dr. Saller's visit. The visit also served as a platform for Dr. Saller, Landrat Peter Dreier, and Economic Referent Ludwig Goetz to exchange views on the project and other matters concerning the region's economic development.

The Landshut region, however, faces challenges in infrastructure development. Dr. Saller acknowledged these challenges but expressed optimism about the potential of the WTAZ and other projects to boost the region's competitiveness and economic growth.

In conclusion, Dr. Reinhard Saller's visit to the Landshut region on July 25, 2025, marked a significant step in the region's efforts to position itself as a competitive player within Lower Bavaria. The WTAZ project, with its focus on hydrogen technology, is expected to play a crucial role in this endeavor.
