Braunschweig Crackdown on Human Trafficking in Catering Businesses
Braunschweig recently took part in a Europe-wide operation targeting human trafficking for exploitation. The action, involving multiple local authorities, uncovered numerous violations in catering businesses.
The operation, led by the central criminal investigation department, inspected 14 catering establishments. Officials checked 48 people and their documents, finding issues such as inadequate hygiene, missing work permits, and notification to social security violations.
Franz Mahncke, head of the central criminal investigation department, emphasized the importance of the action in protecting people from exploitation and upholding the rule of law. Two businesses were temporarily closed due to the findings. The participating authorities, including the city, main customs office, financial control unit, and police, praised the successful cooperation.
Braunschweig's participation in the Europe-wide action against human trafficking for exploitation resulted in the detection of numerous violations in catering businesses.
