Bus restoration company, Complete Coach Works, embarks on a project to refurbish 10 buses for SunLine Transit Agency.
The SunLine Transit Agency has partnered with Complete Coach Works (CCW) for the comprehensive refurbishment of 10 of its 2020 New Flyer XN40 buses. This extensive project, taking place at CCW's Riverside, California facility, aims to extend the buses' service life while meeting current performance, safety, and appearance standards for SunLine’s fleet in the Coachella Valley.
The scope of work involves both cosmetic restoration and mechanical refurbishment for each vehicle. Every 40-foot bus undergoes a series of transformative changes, including the installation of new Cummins L9N ReCon compressed natural gas engines and rebuilt ZF transmissions. These upgrades are essential for ensuring the buses' optimal performance and efficiency.
In addition to the mechanical overhaul, key systems such as power steering, suspension, braking, HVAC, electrical, exhaust, and ADA accessibility equipment will be replaced or overhauled. Passenger seating, flooring, modesty panels, and stanchions will also be inspected and repaired to ensure a comfortable and safe riding experience for passengers.
Exterior body repairs, including full repainting and decal reapplication using agency-approved paint samples and graphics, will be carried out to restore the buses to their peak operational condition. This cosmetic restoration will not only enhance the buses' appearance but also contribute to their extended service life.
CCW's work on the buses is part of their ongoing support for SunLine in maintaining a high-performance, sustainable fleet. The refurbished buses, once ready, will return to SunLine's fleet and be prepared to serve riders across the Coachella Valley.
This refurbishment project is an investment in clean transportation, according to CCW. By extending the service life of these buses, they are contributing to SunLine's commitment to sustainable and efficient public transportation in the region. The refurbished buses will meet current performance, safety, and appearance standards, ready to provide reliable and comfortable service for many years to come.
The rail and automotive industries are not directly involved in the bus refurbishment project between SunLine Transit Agency and Complete Coach Works, as the project focuses on the extensive refurbishment of 10 SunLine buses. The buses' mechanical components, including new Cummins L9N ReCon engines and rebuilt ZF transmissions, will be replaced to improve performance and efficiency. The public-transit sector's finance aspect comes into play as this refurbishment project is an investment in clean transportation, contributing to SunLine's commitment to sustainable and efficient public transportation in the Coachella Valley.
