Canal+ Secures MultiChoice Acquisition, Expands African Reach

Canal+ has extended its reach in Africa and secured regulatory approval for its acquisition of MultiChoice. The French media giant has also provided an update on its financial performance.

Canal+ has expanded its partnership with Netflix to 24 French-speaking African countries. This move comes as Canal+ prepares to fully acquire control over MultiChoice, the African pay-TV pioneer, following regulatory approval. The takeover is set to be completed by October 8, 2025.

In the first half of 2025, Canal+ Group's revenue reached €3.086 billion. Despite a decrease in EBITDA due to a one-off positive item and the end of a UEFA Champions League sublicensing partnership, Canal+ is on track to achieve organic revenue growth in 2025. The company has also confirmed its upgraded guidance for both EBITDA and CFFO for the year.

Canal+ has successfully extended its influence in Africa and received the necessary approval for its acquisition of MultiChoice. Despite a temporary dip in EBITDA, the company remains optimistic about its financial prospects for the year.
