Car Price Increase: base model MG Astor now costs ₹11.48 lakh, reveal new prices.

The British automaker, MG Motor, has announced a price hike for the MG Astor variants in July 2025. The increase ranges from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 19,000, representing a 1.59% hike in prices.

The changes affect most variants of the Astor, including the Shine MT, Sprint MT, Select MT, Sharp Pro MT, Select CVT, Sharp Pro CVT, and Savvy Pro CVT. The Shine MT variant underwent the highest price increase of Rs. 19,000, bringing its price to Rs. 12.67 lakh. Other variants saw increases ranging from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 18,000.

However, the top-spec Savvy Pro 1.3 Turbo AT variant remained unchanged. This price adjustment follows the model-year update earlier in 2025, which saw the discontinuation of the turbo-petrol engine, leaving the Astor available only with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine across manual and CVT options.

The MG Astor is a compact SUV that competes with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. It offers a choice between a 5-speed manual or an 8-step CVT (continuously variable transmission).

The Astor's cabin is equipped with ventilated front seats and a driver's seat offering six-way power adjustment. The engine produces 108 bhp maximum power and 144 Nm of torque.

The Astor comes with a host of features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, a digital key, a panoramic sunroof, auto air-conditioning with rear AC vents, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), and an air purifier. The in-vehicle entertainment system includes a 6-speaker audio system.

Safety features include up to six airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill-hold and hill-descent control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), all-four-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.

Despite the price increase, the Astor continues to offer an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It is worth noting that MG had raised the prices substantially by up to Rs. 1.30 lakh in April 2025. The recent hike seems to be part of ongoing adjustments in 2025.
