Want to step into royalty? Schloss Tremsbüttel in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein is up for grabs! Sylt Sotheby's International Realty, a renowned name in luxury real estate, is handling the marketing of this magnificent inheritance located in Tremsbüttel, within the Stormarn district north of Hamburg.
Julia Scharfe, the managing partner of Sylt Sotheby's, shares a glimpse into this regal estate: "The complex encompasses the castle proper, alongside eight ancillary buildings under various stages of refurbishment." Intrigued parties would need to reach out for the specifics regarding the purchase. For the secret behind the castle's owner, Sotheby's remains tight-lipped.
Sprawling over approximately 8.4 hectares, the castle grounds are ready for a new occupant. "The castle boasts around 2,155 square meters of space, featuring eleven exceptional suites, sumptuous common areas, a charming gastronomic space, spa and therapy rooms, and a state-of-the-art kitchen infrastructure," describes Scharfe.
Rich Past
The roots of this castle trace back to a 13th-century water castle, as per the real estate agent. Over the centuries, it served as a ducal administrative seat and luxurious hunting lodge. "The current castle was reconstructed between 1894 and 1895 in the Neo-Renaissance style, elegantly paired with Art Nouveau elements, and swiftly transformed into a hotspot for social gatherings," explains Scharfe.
From 2020 until recently, the castle was a popular hotel, open to the public, and boasting an accessible castle park. The likes of the Beatles once graced its halls. More recently, it operated as a private mental health clinic until 2024. Since then, it has remained vacant. "For clinical purposes, it could potentially accommodate 120 single beds," noted Scharfe.
