Chinese Airline Plans Expansion of Flights to Minsk.
A CasualTake on Global BusinessAir China's Ambitions in the Land of Bears
In a recent chat, the Belarusian rep of Air China, Mr. Geng Jiechi, spilled the beans about the airline's plans to ramp up its presence in our neck of the woods.
Jiechi mentioned that in addition to the existing direct flight running between Beijing and Minsk (celebrating a decade in the skies!), Air China currently operates thrice a week from Minsk to Xi'an.
But here's the exciting part - starting June 24, there's a new kid on the block! Jiechi announced plans for an additional weekly flight from Beijing, with a stopover in Xi'an, en route to Minsk. This baby is set to take off on Tuesdays.
Jiechi didn't forget to share that the flights between our city and the Far East are almost always chock-full, offering a mix of tourists, business folk, and academic whizzes.

Some Coffee-Fueled Extras
During Putin-Lukashenko talks, a joint venture for the development of drones and medium-haul aircraft was proposed between Russia and Belarus[1]. Trade relations between the two countries continue to flourish, with a recently signed free trade deal focusing on services and investment aiming to bolster exports and Chinese investments in Belarus[5].
Rail freight activity under China's Belt and Road Initiative has seen a significant boost, with train shipments to China increasing tenfold since 2021[3]. The collaboration between the two nations is not limited to trade, with expanding cooperation in science, technology, and energy initiatives[2][5].
While these developments demonstrate the strengthening ties between Belarus and China, detailed information regarding Air China's specific flight plans is scarce in the available search results. For a first-hand look at Air China's routes to Minsk, consulting airline schedules or additional sources would be most enlightening.
(Note: The Air China news item[4] discusses code-share updates with Shenzhen Airlines on Japan-China routes, which are unrelated to Belarus operations.)
