CII Launches Workplace Inclusion Index to Promote Diversity & Accessibility
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched a significant initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The Workplace Inclusion Index™, a joint venture with Great Place to Work® Institute, aims to assess and recognize companies' commitment to creating barrier-free, accessible, and inclusive work environments.
CII established the Indian Women Network (IWN) and India Business and Disability Network (IBDN) to foster diversity and inclusion practices. Companies are now focusing on ensuring representation from diverse community groups, including persons with disabilities and LGBTQ.
The Workplace Inclusion Index™ evaluates organizations from three key perspectives: employee experience, inclusive people policies, and the impact of diversity & inclusion philosophy. It studies practices across various dimensions, such as leadership intent, managerial support, workplace culture, and policies for diverse groups. The assessment also considers the organization's D&I philosophy towards talent market, vendors, suppliers, customers, and societal contributions.
The index serves as a platform to recognize and highlight organizations committed to building inclusive workplaces. It provides best practices and recommendations to guide focused action and internal/external benchmarking for creating an inclusive climate.
By launching the Workplace Inclusion Index™, CII and Great Place to Work® Institute encourage companies to adopt inclusive practices, fostering a diverse workforce that brings different perspectives and insights, ultimately benefiting both the organization and society.
