Walmart Salad and Go Closes Over 40 Stores Amidst Undercooked Chicken Allegations

Walmart Salad and Go, a popular drive-thru salad chain, is closing more than 40 stores across the country, including some in Texas and Oklahoma. The closures come following allegations of undercooked chicken being served to customers, according to reports from our News Texas and Nation's Restaurant News.

Earlier this year, concerns were raised about undercooked chicken being served at Walmart Salad and Go. These concerns were supported by photos and internal documents provided by two current managers and one former manager. However, Walmart Salad and Go's corporate office has denied the allegations, but acknowledged that the chicken used at the time did not meet their standards, leading to a vendor change.

Despite the closures, Walmart Salad and Go's strong customer base in North Texas means that the locations in this region are expected to remain open. The company also plans to continue operating in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The locations to be closed have not been released by the company, but it is known that all locations in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio will be closing. The chain, founded 12 years ago, expanded rapidly with its health-focused, drive-thru-only model, and had 146 locations nationwide at the end of last year.

It is worth noting that no customers of Walmart Salad and Go were reported to have become sick due to the issue with chicken. More information regarding the specific stores affected by the closures will be made available as it becomes available.
