Columbia Sportswear Company Achieves Significant Progress in Sustainability, Social Responsibility, and Operational Efficiency
Columbia Sportswear Company, a global leader in outdoor, active, and lifestyle products, has published its 2024 Impact Report, showcasing key achievements across three corporate responsibility pillars: Empowering People, Sustaining Places, and Responsible Practices.
The report highlights the work accomplished by four primary brands: Columbia, SOREL, Mountain Hardwear, and prAna. In addition to the Columbia® brand, the company also owns Mountain Hard Wear®, SOREL®, and prAna® brands.
Empowering People
The company's efforts to empower people are evident through initiatives such as employee volunteer hours. In 2024, over 6,100 employee hours were contributed to various causes. Furthermore, the RISE program, in partnership with other industry supporters, reached more than 425 workplaces, supporting over 375,000 workers. Over 65% of these workers were women.
Sustaining Places
Columbia Sportswear Company is making strides in sustaining places as well. The company exceeded 80% progress toward its Planet Water goal, which aims to provide daily access to clean water for 100,000 people. Additionally, Mountain Hardwear, one of the company's brands, was named Corporate Partner of the Year by Leave No Trace.
The company's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint is also evident in the decline of absolute energy consumption at its Oregon distribution center and headquarters. From 2022 to 2024, energy consumption decreased by over 900,000 kilowatt hours and nearly 67,000 therms.
Responsible Practices
Columbia Sportswear Company continues to make progress in meeting ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets and has disclosed its sustainability practices according to Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) industry-specific standards.
