Call for Ban on Commercial Trading of Flensburg Points Amidst Concerns Over Deception

The ADAC, a leading automobile club, has urged for increased staff at traffic fine offices and stricter penalties to combat surreptitious point trading. According to the club, more personnel would help uncover bureaucratic deceptions related to falsified driver information. Additionally, the ADAC proposes a maximum fine of 30,000 euros for those involved in commercial point trading.

In a recent survey, the ADAC discovered a higher prevalence of commercial point trading among drivers with entries in the Flensburg register. Forty-three percent of those drivers are aware of such practices, compared to 25 percent of the general driving population. The survey also revealed that 72 percent of respondents advocate for penalizing point trading, while only 12 percent view it as acceptable.

The Flensburg points system, administered by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, KBA), is used in Germany to regulate traffic offenses and enforce road safety. Principles of commercial trading are not recognized within the system, as it regards assigned points as a means of penalization rather than commodities that can be bought or sold.

The ADAC primarily focuses on promoting road safety and advocating for drivers' rights, rather than engaging in practices related to the trading of penalty points. Currently, there is no specific information available on the club's involvement in the commercial trading of Flensburg points.

The ADAC's call for increased regulatory action comes as the issue of commercial point trading draws attention and concern from road safety advocates and the general public. The federal government is yet to comment on the ADAC's proposed measures.

  1. The conversation surrounding commercial trading of Flensburg points has extended to the realm of community law, as the ADAC advocates for stricter penalties and potential bans, inspired by the concerns over deceptive practices and the erosion of road safety.
  2. In light of the growing realization of commercial point trading among a significant portion of drivers with Flensburg entries, the discussion on this matter, falling under the purview of business, general-news, and crime-and-justice sectors, has gained significant attention and scrutiny from the public and road safety advocates alike.
