Bird & Bird, a renowned international law firm, is broadening its services in Indonesia by forming alliances with two leading Indonesian law firms: K&K Advocates and NSMP. These alliances are part of Bird & Bird's strategic plans to increase the breadth of its services in the region.

K&K Advocates, an IP boutique firm based in Indonesia, and NSMP, a business law firm, are two of the leading law firms in the country. The partnerships aim to strengthen Bird & Bird's position in Indonesia, a market that has seen an increase in client expectations and demand due to the ASEAN Economic Community.

Justin Walkey, Chairman of Bird & Bird's Asia-Pacific practice, expressed delight at welcoming NSMP and K&K Advocates to the Bird & Bird international network. Bird & Bird already has a long-standing cooperation agreement with Tay & Partners in Malaysia.

In addition to its operations in Indonesia, Bird & Bird operates in Singapore under the name ATMD Bird & Bird. The firm also has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Earlier this year, Bird & Bird signed an agreement with Hwang Mok Park, a Korean law firm.

The firm's growth focus in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, highlights its strategy of leveraging expertise in complex cross-border issues relevant to the ASEAN Economic Community's integration and investment climate. Bird & Bird has been expanding its dispute resolution practice in Singapore by hiring cross-border arbitration expert John Rainbird to support clients in sectors like energy, utilities, and infrastructure across Southeast Asia and Japan.

These strategic moves reflect Bird & Bird's ambition to grow regionally and support cross-border investments and collaborations within ASEAN nations. By forming alliances with local firms like K&K Advocates and NSMP, Bird & Bird is facilitating seamless cross-border legal services aligned with the ASEAN Economic Community’s goals of economic integration, liberalization, and cooperation.

In summary, while there is no direct mention of Bird & Bird's strategic alliances in Indonesia in the current data, the firm's regional growth through enhanced teams and capabilities in Singapore supports its broader expansion in ASEAN markets by enabling better cross-border legal support for clients. This indirectly contributes to its ASEAN Economic Community strategy by positioning Bird & Bird as a key legal advisor for cross-border investments and collaborations in Southeast Asia.
