Lithium Search in Several Districts - Company Hunts for Lithium in Thuringia to Boost EV Battery Production
A company has initiated a search for lithium in the Thuringian Basin, with a focus on several districts. The company also aims to explore for manganese and zinc in the region. Lithium, a crucial component in the production of batteries for electric vehicles, is the primary target.
The company submitted an application on June 12 to further investigate these minerals. The application is currently in processing. The planned test drillings will take place in multiple districts, including Eichsfeld, Nordhausen, Kyffhäuserkreis, Sömmerda, Weimarer Land, Ilm-Kreis, Gotha, Wartburgkreis, Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis, and the district-free cities of Weimar and Erfurt.
The company's preliminary literature research has indicated higher lithium content in the deep waters of the Thuringian Basin.
The company's search for lithium, manganese, and zinc in the Thuringian Basin could potentially boost the region's mining industry and support the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries. The outcome of the application, currently in processing, will determine the next steps in this exploration.
