Concrete additives production facility commences operations by Sika in Romania

Sika, a global leader in the production of chemical solutions for the construction and automotive industries, has expanded its operations in Romania with the inauguration of a new concrete additives production facility in Corlătești, Prahova County [1][2]. The investment of CHF 1.4 million (EUR 1.5 million) marks a key step in Sika's Eastern European expansion strategy, providing the company with the operational flexibility needed to better respond to the increasingly dynamic demands of the construction market [1].

The new facility is equipped with advanced technologies that focus on circular economy principles. It boasts systems for the recovery, treatment, and reuse of concrete and wastewater, which help to lower the plant's carbon footprint and support sustainability goals [1]. These environmentally friendly technologies align with Sika’s broader approach to environmentally compatible construction industry transformation [4].

The plant strengthens Sika’s local and regional production capacity for concrete additives, contributing to Romania’s strategic position in the Eastern European construction market. Sika Romania, with its five industrial platforms nationwide and over 600 employees, has a significant footprint in the national construction chemicals market [1]. On a global scale, Sika’s broad network of over 400 production sites in 102 countries and sales of CHF 11.76 billion (USD 13.4 billion) in 2024 underline the company’s influential role in the global construction materials industry [1][4].

Ileana Nicolae, Sika's head of Eastern Europe, stated that the investment in Corlătești is a concrete step in their regional expansion [3]. The facility is located on a local industrial platform, allowing Sika to capitalize on the region's growth potential and meet the rising demand for concrete additives in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
