Conservit enlists Steiner's signature dependability, reinforcing its own dependability.

In the heart of Hagerstown, Maryland, Conservit Inc., a metals recycling company with over half a century of industry experience, has found a reliable partner in STEINERT. This forward-thinking partnership, spanning over a decade, has transformed Conservit's nonferrous sorting plant from a smaller, outdated facility into a modern and successful operation.

The journey began when Conservit's Vice President of Nonferrous Operations, Sam Metzner, selected STEINERT to provide a nonferrous recovery plant. The decision was driven by factors such as cost, performance, and equipment quality. Since its installation, the STEINERT device has been in operation without a hitch, demonstrating high durability, minimal downtime, and excellent recovery rates. In fact, the initial STEINERT equipment is still running today as well as it did when it was installed.

Fast forward to 2021, Conservit enhanced its facility with additional high-end STEINERT sorting machines to refine mixed metals, tapping into a growing domestic market for high-grade mixed shredded metals. This strategic move further boosted Conservit's competitive edge.

The operational excellence at Conservit, coupled with STEINERT’s precise sorting technology, has yielded superior metal recovery. Regular quarterly assessments and prompt support from STEINERT have maintained optimal plant performance and facilitated continuous improvements. Conservit's commitment to facility maintenance, operation, and workforce has not gone unnoticed, with Ross Meadema, a long-time STEINERT contact for Metzner and Conservit, commending the metals recycling company for its exceptional efforts.

Metzner expresses his trust in STEINERT and Ross Meadema, stating that Conservit feels valued as a customer and has been satisfied with STEINERT's equipment performance. He appreciates the communication, stating that when issues arise, they are promptly addressed, which has been a significant factor in Conservit's continued business with STEINERT.

The lifespans of the early STEINERT machines Conservit acquired have yet to be surpassed, indicating their impressive durability. The collaboration with STEINERT to set up the expanded sorting plant has given Conservit greater access to the growing domestic market for high-grade mixed shredded metals.

A notable example of STEINERT's performance can be seen in a comparison with another shredding and sorting plant operator in another part of the country. STEINERT tested a sample of shredded mixed metals from this operator through the Conservit system. They discovered 4-12% metallics in the submitted auto shredder residue that the customer had been discarding, despite operating nearly twice the number of sorting devices compared to Conservit.

In summary, STEINERT’s equipment at Conservit is characterized by dependable, high-performance nonferrous metal recovery, durable and low-maintenance machinery, and proactive service support. This partnership has been instrumental in Conservit’s recycling success in the Mid-Atlantic region.

  1. The strategic partnership between Conservit Inc. and STEINERT, in the manufacturing industry, has been pivotal in transforming Conservit's nonferrous sorting plant, leading to its growth and success in the finance sector.
  2. Conservit has further strengthened its competitive edge by investing in additional high-end STEINERT sorting machines, enabling the processing of a growing domestic market for high-grade mixed shredded metals.
