Consilium Broadens Worldwide Cedant Facultative Portfolio via Strategic Senior Appointments and Singapore Debut

Consilium, a leading reinsurance broker, is making significant strides in its global growth strategy with the expansion of its Cedant Facultative Risk Solutions team and the launch of a new cedant-driven FAC reinsurance division.

London Team Reinforcement

In London, the team is bolstered by the appointment of Paul Hargis as Senior Partner. Hargis, who joins from Guy Carpenter, brings 25 years of facultative reinsurance experience, specializing in international property and natural resources. Clare Payne, a placement director from Gallagher, has also joined the London team as Partner. Payne's expertise spans environmental, product recall, construction, and terrorism risks, expanding Consilium’s casualty placements capabilities.

Singapore Office and Asia Pacific Expansion

On the other side of the globe, Consilium is set to open a new office in Singapore, subject to regulatory approval. Rob Drysdale, previously Head of Southeast Asia at Descartes Underwriting, has been appointed as CEO of this new office. Drysdale brings nearly 20 years' Facultative expertise across the Asia Pacific region and will focus on Property, Power, and Energy Facultative Reinsurance classes for the Singapore office.

Enhancing Existing Capabilities

The appointments in London and Singapore aim to enhance Consilium's existing Facultative capabilities. The sheer volume of data that can be fed into insurance platforms these days is huge. However, the smart thing for insurers is to use AI and analytics tools to navigate this data, making pricing as regards reinsurance more manageable.

Senior Leadership Appointments

Ivan Breen, who joins as Head of North America Facultative from Canopius, and Peter Coleman, who comes from Guy Carpenter Facultative, have also joined Consilium’s senior leadership. Coleman brings significant specialty insurance experience, primarily in the London Market, while Breen's role is more broadly senior leadership.

Simon Richardson, previously working at Besso Re, has been appointed as Managing Partner of the new division. WTW has also re-established its North America Facultative team with the appointment of three senior hires.

In summary, the London team is strengthened by Paul Hargis (property & natural resources) and Clare Payne (casualty and specialty risks), while Rob Drysdale spearheads expansion in Singapore with strong expertise in facultative across Asia Pacific. This expansion is a significant step in Consilium's global growth strategy.
