Customs Raid Nets 3 Illegal Workers in Brandenburg Construction Site
On August 13, 2025, the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder) conducted a thorough inspection at a construction site in Fürstenwalde, Brandenburg. The operation, led by the Finance Control Unit 'Black Work', aimed to ensure compliance with social security registrations, prevent benefit fraud, and check for illegal employment and minimum wage violations.
The inspection targeted the proper registration of employees for social security, a crucial step to prevent fraudulent receipt of social benefits. Additionally, it aimed to verify that all workers possessed valid residence and work permits, and that they were being paid at least the minimum wage.
The operation was successful in identifying three Brazilian nationals who attempted to evade the inspection by fleeing. These individuals could not produce identification documents authorizing their residence and employment in Germany, making them illegal workers on the construction site. As a result, criminal proceedings have been initiated against them for suspected illegal residence, and administrative proceedings for illegal employment.
The inspection by the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder) has led to the initiation of criminal and administrative proceedings against three individuals for suspected illegal residence and employment. The operation highlights the authorities' commitment to ensuring fair labor practices, preventing benefit fraud, and maintaining a legal workforce in Germany.
