Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Smoke Report
A Delta Air Lines flight from London to Boston, carrying 259 passengers, made an emergency diversion just minutes after takeoff. The incident occurred on an Airbus A330 widebody jet, less than four and a half years old. The flight, operated by Delta's customer team, was scheduled to depart the following day. However, after flying off the coast of Cornwall, the plane turned back towards the UK. Passengers remained unaware of the reason for the diversion until a sharp turn over South London. The crew reported smoke in the aircraft, leading to an emergency landing at London Heathrow. Fire officials swiftly boarded the aircraft after landing. Passengers were then safely transported to the airport terminal by bus. The name of the Delta Air Lines cockpit crew who ordered the emergency landing on October 5 has not been disclosed. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety protocols in aviation. Delta Air Lines is cooperating with authorities to investigate the cause of the smoke. All passengers were safely accounted for, with the airline assisting in rebooking and accommodations.
