Donations received by our website for Cuba approach $4.5 million in total
The "65 Years of Việt Nam-Cuba Solidarity" campaign, organised by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VNRC), is currently underway and has already surpassed its initial fundraising goal. The campaign, which runs from August 13 to October 16, 2025, aims to provide food, essential goods, and sustainable humanitarian support for the Cuban people.
As of August 20, 2025, the campaign has raised over 350 billion VND (approximately 13.5 million USD) through more than 1.7 million contributions nationwide. This figure exceeds the initial target of at least 65 billion VND (~2.47 million USD).
The VNRC has expressed its gratitude to ministries, agencies, political and social organisations, mass movements, institutions, businesses, international partners, philanthropists, and the Vietnamese people at home and abroad for their solidarity with the Cuban people. Nguyen Haai Anh, Vice President and Secretary General of the VNRC, issued a letter of thanks for the contributions made on Thursday evening.
Anh described the donations as a vivid testament to the steadfast and loyal friendship between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples. The contributions, Anh stated, go beyond their material value, shining as a symbol of the enduring spirit of Vietnam-Cuba solidarity in all circumstances.
The campaign forms part of the Việt Nam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025. Contributions can be made through various means, including fundraising drives, bank transfers using the VNRC QR code, public donation boxes, mobile applications (Thien Nguyen or Viettel Money), the VNRC website, or by organizing creative school initiatives.
People can track the total donations in real time via the link: https://thiennguyen.app/donate-target/1955184412459020288 or download the Thiện Nguyện (Charity) app. The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is also accepting both direct donations and bank transfers until at least August 31, 2025.
The VNRC mentioned that contributions can be made through these channels with the assurance that the process is transparent and accountable. Full, publicly accessible statements of donations are still available on the platforms mentioned earlier.
The VNRC is entrusted by the Party, State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to lead the campaign. The campaign operates with full transparency and close coordination with the Cuban Embassy, the Cuban Red Cross, and international humanitarian organizations to ensure the aid reaches the intended beneficiaries.
In summary, the "65 Years of Việt Nam-Cuba Solidarity" campaign is a significant effort to support the Cuban people during a challenging time. The campaign's success reflects the strong bond of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the generosity of the Vietnamese people.
