Durham University Launches Alumni Angel Network for Start-up Support
Durham University has launched its first-ever Alumni Angel Network, a unique platform aimed at supporting start-ups founded by its alumni. The network, part of the broader Durham University Alumni Enterprise Network, is open to new members, businesses seeking funding, and those interested in learning more.
Established after extensive planning and consulting, the network boasts 26 qualified 'angels' from diverse backgrounds, including entrepreneurship, finance, and professional services sectors. These members are spread across the globe, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.
The Venture Lab, Durham University's hub for student and graduate entrepreneurship, has been instrumental in setting up the network. Its goal is to facilitate investment in promising start-ups led by Durham alumni, offering them opportunities to access world-class support.
Since its creation, the network has curated a deal flow of relevant investment opportunities and hosted three inaugural events where seven businesses pitched. These pitches came from a variety of industries such as FinTech, EdTech, and sports sciences, all aiming to disrupt their respective markets.
The Durham University Alumni Angel Network is open for business, providing a platform for alumni founders to connect with potential investors and for entrepreneurs to access top-tier support. With its global network of qualified 'angels' and a deal flow of promising start-ups, the network is poised to make a significant impact on the UK's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
