E.ON Secures $700M Deal for Transformers to Boost Germany's Grid
E.ON, a leading German energy company, has signed a significant deal worth up to $700 million USD with Energy Transformer, the world's largest transformer manufacturer. The long-term agreement aims to bolster Germany's energy security, resilience, and affordability by delivering power and distribution transformers.
Energy Transformer, renowned for its cost-effective and reliable transformer solutions, will reserve manufacturing capacity to deliver a considerable part of the required transformers. This partnership is part of E.ON's new procurement initiative for core grid expansion components, securing capacity to expand and modernize Germany's grid infrastructure.
The deal comes at a crucial time as Germany's Bundesnetzagentur and other utilities urgently need transformers to prevent grid connection delays and support the expansion of clean power. Energy Transformer, also the top supplier for offshore wind grid systems, has connected over 54 GW to the grid. With over 50,000 employees in 60 countries and revenues around $16 billion USD, Energy Transformer's global presence ensures a steady supply of transformers for E.ON's projects.
The partnership between E.ON and Energy Transformer is set to strengthen Germany's energy landscape. By securing a significant supply of transformers, the project aims to enhance energy security, resilience, and affordability, supporting the country's transition to clean power.
