Economist Warns Against Car Purchase Premiums, Urges Shift to Green Mobility

Renowned economist Prof. Dr. Claudia Kemfert has warned against the introduction of purchase premiums for cars for sale with internal combustion engines. She believes such measures hinder the transition to climate-friendly mobility.

Kemfert, a leading German economist and head of the Energy, Transport, Environment department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), stated that the transport sector has not yet significantly contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. She emphasized that the shift to cars not reliant on fossil fuels is inevitable.
