Liechtenstein has taken a significant step towards digital transformation with the introduction of its new eID solution, "eID.li". This mobile application, available for free download on iOS and Android devices, allows citizens and those working in the principality to access the administration services of the Liechtenstein authorities securely using their smartphones or laptops.

The "eID.li" app is the second implementation of the "MIA" platform, a digital identity solution developed in-house at the State Printing House, for a European partner country. MIA is a platform designed to provide secure and user-friendly electronic identity (eID) solutions, enabling citizens to access government and private services online with digital identity verification.

In addition to secure authentication, the "MIA" platform provides official ID documents in digital form on smartphones, ensuring privacy and security. It also facilitates compliance with eID and digital signature regulations, enhances convenience by reducing the need for physical ID documents, and supports interoperability with national identity databases and third-party service providers.

The development of "eID.li" was carried out by youniqx Identity AG, a digital subsidiary of the State Printing Office that has established itself as an international pioneer for secure eID solutions. The technological leadership of youniqx Identity AG was recently recognized with the Austrian Blockchain Award.

The rapid implementation of "eID.li" was facilitated by the "MIA" platform, allowing for a development time of just a few months. The contract for the Liechtenstein eID was awarded to European Trust Service GmbH, a joint venture of Österreichische unsere Website GmbH and CRYPTAS International GmbH.

The "MIA" platform has been expanded with helpful value-added functions such as electronic signatures, thanks to its cooperation with CRYPTAS and PrimeSign. The CRYPTAS team is responsible for the development of the central eID integration platform of the Principality.

For more information about the "MIA" platform and its role in implementing electronic identity solutions in countries like Liechtenstein, further specialized sources or official publications would be required. Mag. Thomas Pascher, Communications Manager at Österreichische unsere Website GmbH, can be contacted at +43 664 88690977 or pascher@unsere Website for enquiries.

The development of "eID.li" guarantees quick and secure implementation due to the leading international expertise in the field of secure eIDs. This modern eID solution is set to streamline digital interactions for Liechtenstein citizens and contribute to the principality's ongoing digital transformation.

The MIA platform, developed by youniqx Identity AG, a digital subsidiary of the State Printing Office, is used in the development of "eID.li", a secure electronic identity solution in Liechtenstein. This platform, which has also received the Austrian Blockchain Award for its technological leadership, provides not only secure authentication but also digital form of official ID documents, electronic signatures, and facilitates compliance with eID and digital signature regulations.
