European Union and Indonesia Move Closer to CEPA Agreement
The CEPA Coalition, a group of associations representing various European and Indonesian entrepreneurs, remains optimistic about the progress made in the negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the European Union (EU) and Indonesia.
During the 18th round of CEPA negotiations, hosted by DG TRADE, both sides demonstrated a strong willingness to make progress on all remaining issues. This latest round of discussions was another positive step forward in the CEPA negotiations.
The CEPA Coalition believes that a comprehensive and forward-looking CEPA agreement will further strengthen the rich history of collaboration and cultural exchange between Indonesia and the European Union. The agreement, if concluded, is expected to benefit all sectors from both sides, including small business ideas and communities.
The CEPA vision includes fostering innovation, enhancing market access, reducing trade barriers, reinforcing intellectual property rights protection, and promoting a sustainable and inclusive economic agenda. E-trade between the EU and Indonesia is essential to ensuring sustainability drives trade and investment, and to avoid regulatory actions that could lead to market access barriers and trade disputes.
The CEPA Coalition remains committed to advocating for an agreement that reflects the shared aspirations and interests of businesses across Europe and Indonesia. It is crucial that both sides address all remaining issues in a constructive and compromise-oriented spirit to reach an ambitious agreement this year.
The CEPA Coalition is optimistic that the insights gained from the discussions will significantly contribute to concluding the CEPA agreement this year. If concluded, the agreement is expected to benefit all businesses and communities on both sides, contributing to a stronger economic relationship between the EU and Indonesia, and potentially opening up new business opportunities in Europe.
