Enhanced Transit Services: Line 682 Directly Links Klinikum via Public Buses
In the heart of Solingen, Germany, a new public transport connection has been introduced, making it easier and more accessible for hospital employees, patients, and visitors to commute to and from the municipal hospital.
The dedicated bus line, operating as Line 682, directly links the hospital site with key areas, including the main station. This new service is a result of a study titled "Timetable measure: Hospital connection," commissioned by the committee for climate protection, environment, mobility, and housing (AKUMW) and conducted by the transport company of Stadtwerke Solingen.
The new connection offers several benefits, particularly for hospital staff. With coordination based on shift changes, the service ensures reliable, frequent trips that reduce travel times and costs. For commuters and visitors, the improved accessibility to the hospital's location enhances convenience, potentially integrating with other transport modes for seamless travel.
Modern BOB buses, clearly marked with "Line 682 via Hospital," are primarily used for the new service. The line now directly connects the hospital to the main station during early morning and late evening hours, eliminating the need to transfer to lines 692 or 693 at those times.
The new service operates from 5:35 AM to 7:00 AM and from 8:35 PM to 10:00 PM, extending the gaps in off-peak hours. On weekends, the direct connection is further improved with three additional trips on Saturdays and four on Sundays.
The collaboration between Stadtwerke Solingen and the municipal hospital led to the agreement on the additional operating hours and days needed for the direct line. The timetable updates for the new route can be found at the stops along the route.
Through a contract between Stadtwerke Solingen GmbH and the municipal hospital Solingen, employees can obtain the Germany Job Ticket at a discounted price. This initiative supports sustainability goals by encouraging public transport use, reducing traffic congestion, and lowering emissions around sensitive healthcare environments.
During four consultation days at the end of last year, around 200 more subscribers for the transport services were gained, and another large employer in Solingen has expressed interest in the company variant of the ticket. The line 682 has been a permanent part of the schedule since January 7th and is included in the online timetables.
Since the timetable change on January 7, there has been an improvement in the bus network in Solingen, specifically for employees at the municipal hospital. Starting Tuesday, there are 33 additional weekly trips connecting the municipal hospital in Solingen to the city's public transport network (ÖPNV).
This new public transport connection is a significant step towards enhancing accessibility, convenience, and sustainability in Solingen, making it a more connected and eco-friendly city for all its residents and visitors.
The new public transport connection, titled Line 682, directly links the municipal hospital in Solingen with key areas, including the main station, demonstrating an expansion in the transportation industry. This service, primarily operated by Modern BOB buses, is a result of a study commissioned by the AKUMW committee, aiming to improve circulation in the city's finance sector, specifically focusing on public-transit and transportation. With the introduction of Line 682, the hospital's accessibility increases, potentially benefiting hospital employees, patients, and visitors, while promoting sustainable practices in the finance sector.
