Estée Lauder Expands into Luxury Markets Honoring Evelyn Lauder's Legacy
Estée Lauder, the renowned cosmetics company, has announced its expansion into new luxury markets, including Asia, with the acquisition of Ermenegildo Zegna's fragrance license. This move comes as a tribute to the late Evelyn Lauder, a key figure in the company's history and a pioneer in the fight against breast cancer.
Evelyn Lauder, born in Vienna in 1936 and arriving in New York at the age of four, was the daughter of Max Menkin. She met her future husband, Leonard Lauder, son of Estée Lauder, while studying at Sarah Lawrence College. The couple married in 1959 and went on to transform the family business into an internationally recognised brand.
Evelyn Lauder served as vice president and fragrance development director of Estée Lauder. She was instrumental in the company's growth and was one of its driving forces until her passing in 2011 at the age of 75. Her legacy lives on, not only in the company's continued success but also in the Breast Cancer Research Foundation she founded in 1993. This organisation has been at the forefront of the battle against breast cancer ever since.
Estée Lauder's expansion into new luxury markets is a testament to Evelyn Lauder's vision and the company's commitment to growth. The acquisition of Ermenegildo Zegna's fragrance license is set to strengthen Estée Lauder's position in the global market, while the Breast Cancer Research Foundation continues Evelyn Lauder's legacy in the fight against breast cancer.
