Ex-Governor of Kuban, Tkachev, Expresses Interest in Acquiring "Papa Can" Sausage Manufacturing Business

The Agrocomplex named after N.I. Tkachev, owned by the family of the former Krasnodar Krai Governor Alexander Tkachev, is set to acquire AO "Ostankinsky Meat Processing Plant" (OMPC), according to a report by the Kommersant newspaper. OMPC, known for producing products under the "Ostankino" and "Dad Can" brands, is aiming to secure approximately 50-60 billion rubles upon completion of the deal, scheduled for summer 2025.

Various parties have expressed interest in buying OMPC, including other local and regional meat processing companies seeking to expand their capacity and market presence, large agricultural holdings aiming for vertical integration, private equity firms and investment groups focused on the agricultural and food processing sector, and foreign investors targeting the Russian meat processing market due to its growth potential.

In addition to Agrocomplex Tkachev, the Kommersant source mentioned potential buyers such as structures linked to former UGMK President Iskander Makhmudov, the investment group "Marathon", a division of Thai holding CP Group - CP Foods, GAZ "Resource", and "Miratorg". However, specific names of other interested parties were not explicitly detailed in the report.

Industry experts believe the stated asset price to be excessively high, with the real figure estimated to be around 35-40 billion rubles. The asset's appeal lies in its attraction to large meat producers with insufficient processing capacity.

Previous reports by "Live Kuban" indicated that the Municipality of Krasnodar had lost a lawsuit against the Agrocomplex of former Kuban Governor Tkachev.

  1. The manufacturing industry, particularly meat processing companies, are showing interest in purchasing OMPC, as expanding their capacity and market presence is a key goal.
  2. The finance sector, with private equity firms and investment groups specializing in agricultural and food processing, are also eyeing potential investments in the Ostankinsky Meat Processing Plant.
  3. Retail businesses and large agricultural holdings, aiming for vertical integration, are among the prospective buyers of OMPC, as the acquisition would give them access to a well-established brand with strong market presence.
