Financial Assistance for Lübeck-Moisling Region

The city of Lübeck and the state of Schleswig-Holstein are set to revolutionise regional travel with the construction of a new train station in Lübeck-Moisling. The project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023, aims to improve connectivity between Lübeck and surrounding areas, offering faster and more frequent train services.

The new station, located in the southwest of Lübeck at Moisling, 23560, is expected to significantly reduce travel times. For instance, the journey from Lübeck-Moisling to Hamburg Hbf will take less than 40 minutes, a reduction of 35 to 40 minutes compared to current connections via Lübeck Hbf.

The new station will also benefit approximately 11,500 local residents, providing them with easier access to essential services and opportunities. The travel time between Lübeck Hbf and Lübeck-Moisling will be reduced to just five minutes, making commuting more convenient.

The new train station will serve as a mobility hub, offering modern facilities and a surrounding design. It will be served by RE lines 8 and 80 at half-hourly intervals from December 2023. The station will also provide travel times from Lübeck-Moisling to various destinations in eastern Hamburg via Bad Oldesloe.

Direct services to Travemünde Strand will offer seamless connections to the Baltic Sea, enhancing tourism opportunities for the region. The state of Schleswig-Holstein has allocated around 4.6 million euros for the project, which equals 75% of the total project costs. The city of Lübeck will cover the remaining costs.

Minister of Transport Claus Ruhe Madsen has handed over a funding decision for the project to the Mayor of Lübeck, Jan Lindenau. The new train station at Lübeck-Moisling will be transformed into a modern mobility hub, aiming to improve regional mobility and connectivity.

For the most recent and detailed project information, including travel times, services, and additional destinations, it is recommended to consult the official websites or press releases from the local transportation authorities or Deutsche Bahn. The new train station at Lübeck-Moisling, funded by both Schleswig-Holstein and Lübeck, will serve as a mobility hub for the region, offering modern facilities. Starting from December 2023, RE lines 8 and 80 will connect Lübeck-Moisling to the finance and transportation industries, providing faster travel times to Hamburg Hbf, as well as destinations in eastern Hamburg via Bad Oldesloe, and even Travemünde Strand for tourism purposes.
