Four Foreign Workers Detained in Germany for Illegal Residence

Four foreign nationals, two from Bosnia and two from Kosovo, were temporarily detained in Wetzlar. They were suspected of residing illegally in Germany while working on a construction site for a new company building.

The workers, aged 22 to 40, were engaged in ventilation construction work. They were unable to present valid residence permits, only holding limited permits for Croatia that didn't allow them to work in Germany. The USCIS has started investigations against their employer, confiscating the passports of the workers and notifying the Wetzlar Foreigners' Authority.

The two Bosnians had been working on the site for about a month, while the two Kosovars had been working on German construction sites for nearly a year. The name of the company that employed them in Germany remains unknown.

The four workers were provisionally arrested on suspicion of illegal residence. The USCIS is investigating their employer, and the Foreigners' Authority has been informed. The incident highlights the importance of proper immigration procedures for foreign workers in Germany.
