Over half of the Top 100 Powerful Women, according to Forbes, are aged 50 and above, a fact we endorse. Over the past year, we've honored women who prove that extraordinariness knows no age limit. As we conclude this inspiring series, it's time to introduce you to the mature professionals at Gardenuity who contribute significantly to the company's success.

Gardenuity's Progress Transformed: From Humble Beginnings to a Sour Success

Women in their fifties and beyond are proving they're unstoppable, defying age stereotypes and making a mark. Last year, Don Lemon, a former CNN anchor, commented that "women over 50 are past their prime." But just a year later, Gardenuity wholeheartedly disagrees. The company has spent the past year highlighting remarkable women over fifty who are finding success and making a difference. As a culmination of their "Lemon to Lemonade" program, Gardenuity is sharing the stories and advice of women on their team who are over 50 and embody the spirit of resilience.

Over the past year, Gardenuity has been introduced to many extraordinary women, including Margot Carter, Tracy Rector, Sharee Brell, Suzan Morno-Wade, Diane Paddison, Brenda Stoner, Ann Marie Scichili, Pam Cho, Ginny Kissling, Nancy Henger, and Arianna Huffington. These women inspire, encourage, and have stories to share. Nominations have poured in from across the country, and Gardenuity celebrates each and every woman who was nominated and those who nominated them.

This week, Gardenuity is sharing advice and stories from the women over 50 who are part of the team. These women work together every day to bring gardens and gardening experiences to people across the country. Kelly, Sylvia, Julie, Shelley, Donna, and Angelica are proof that there's no limit to the strength and impact a woman can have, regardless of age.

When discussing herself in three words, Kelly describes herself as an advocate, personable, and hardworking. These qualities have allowed her to succeed in her sales and marketing career and work her way up the ladder. She left her role in Sales behind and took a consulting job centered around radio stations when she had her daughter, Happy, who has special needs. Kelly used her extroverted nature and sales skills to make significant changes in schools for people with disabilities, such as advocating for peer tutor classes and starting a committee called SAGE (Special and Gifted Education). She also started the Sparkling Scots, a cheerleading squad for special needs girls who want to be cheerleaders.

Therapeutic horseback riding at Main Gate is Kelly's current cause to champion. It is near and dear to her heart because of the positive impact it has had on her daughter, Happy. Kelly and the Gardenuity team are currently working on a 9.8 million dollar project to be completed by October 2024, after starting fundraising in April 2023.

Kelly's advice for her children is to always practice kindness and find power in calm. She believes that people with disabilities are often overlooked by the medical community, so she is working to change attitudes and prejudices. Living to fifty has given Kelly perspective, wisdom, and the ability to reflect on the wrong turns that have shaped her and made her wiser.

Sylvia is resilient, generous, and kind. She would champion animal welfare and pass on the lessons of being direct, standing your ground, and not making excuses to her children. Sylvia has accomplished many Things in her fifties, including starting running marathons, hiking mountains, having her first Grandchild, and staying married. She loves being over 50 because she doesn't care what others think and can be herself.

Julie is faithful, loyal, and optimistic. She would champion providing an excellent education for all children. Her advice for her children is to invest in faith, family, friends, and financial pursuits. Julie is proud of her 33-year marriage to her husband, raising her two children, managing to have someone to cook for her all the time, and seeing her kids enjoy the company of each other and those they surrounded them with as children. She loves continuing to learn something new every day at this stage in life.

Shelley is introverted, loyal, and honest. She champions showing love to people through relationships and passing on lessons such as saving money early, not spending frivolously, and investing in people. Shelley has accomplished restarting her accounting career after taking time off to raise her children and building a purpose for retirement. She loves being able to show compassion and mercy to people going through problems because of her life experience.

Donna sees herself as faithful, ferocious, and funny. She would champion bringing back home economics into the educational system. Donna hopes to pass down unconditional love and acceptance of others to her children, and she is proud of starting a company that has created a new category in the wellness market, learning to garden, and being named one of Madison's 10 Most Influential People.

Angelica describes herself as loyal, authentic, and transparent. She champions helping underprivileged children reach their full potential. Angelica's over 50 accomplishments are being a single mom, portraying an example of God's unconditional love on earth, and looking ten years younger than her actual age. She loves being over fifty because she is still in great physical shape.

Gardenuity welcomes the extraordinary women over fifty who are making a difference. To celebrate them, Gardenuity is donating "Lemon to Lemonade" gardens to women who are making a meaningful impact. Furthermore, Gardenuity is offering a monetary donation to organizations that are committed to empowering women and making the world a better place.
