German Customs Seize Potency-Enhancing Honey Paste
German customs have recently seized a large quantity of illegal honey paste containing the unapproved substance Sildenafil. This action follows the removal of 2,520 packets of 'Lotus Premium Honey' from Turkey due to the same issue. Consumers are warned against purchasing such products from uncertain sources.
The Sildenafil, a potency-enhancing substance, can lead to dangerous interactions with certain medications and severe side effects that can impair driving ability. It was not declared on the packaging, posing a risk to consumers who may unknowingly ingest a potent medication. The Main Customs Office Landshut, which plays a crucial role in ensuring consumer safety, has seized the illegal honey paste. A criminal investigation has been initiated against those responsible. Consumers are advised to be cautious when buying such products from uncertain sources due to the high health risk they pose. The import of unapproved potency or medicinal products is illegal in Germany. Registration for the Zollinfotage training, which will take place on April 26, 2025, in Altdorf and on May 10, 2025, in Passau, is possible at [email protected]. For further questions, contact the Main Customs Office Landshut Press spokesperson at telephone: 0871-806-1031 or email: [email protected].
The seizure of the illegal honey paste containing Sildenafil highlights the importance of customs' role in protecting consumers from unapproved and potentially dangerous substances. Consumers are urged to be vigilant and only purchase products from trusted sources.
