Ghana's NIA Announces New Fees & Deadlines for Ghana Card Registrations & SIM Linking
Ghana's National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced new fees and deadlines for Ghana Card registrations and SIM card linking. Starting May 1, several changes will come into effect, affecting both Ghanaian citizens and residents in the ECOWAS sub-region.
First-time registrations at NIA Premium Centres will now cost GHâ‚μ310 ($23.01), an increase from the previous fee of 50 Ghanaian Cedis. For nationality updates at these centres, the fee will be GHâ‚μ365 ($27.09). Those seeking to update their records or replace their cards in the ECOWAS sub-region will pay the cedi equivalent of $27.5.
At regional and district offices, nationality updates will cost GHâ‚μ70 ($5.20), while card replacements at Premium Centres will be GHâ‚μ420 ($31.17).
In a separate development, all SIM card users in Ghana must link their cards with their Ghana Card by the end of May 2023 to avoid deactivation. This is part of the registration process that requires Ghanaians to present their Ghana Card for SIM card registration.
These fee adjustments and deadlines aim to streamline the registration process and enhance security. Ghanaian citizens and residents are urged to comply with the new regulations to avoid any inconvenience or penalties.
